HOW OFTEN ARE YOU INTERRUPTED AT WORK?

Very rarely -- I am very protective of my "productive time."
I spend at least half of my day fielding calls and visitors.
All day long -- I never seem to get anything accomplished!

HOW DO YOU TACKLE A NEW PROJECT?

I get an early start and tend to finish before my deadline.
I start out strong, but fade as I get past the initial excitement.
I pull an "all-nighter" the day before it's due.

WHAT TIME DOES YOUR WORKDAY END?

5:00 sharp -- then I head home for dinner with friends or family.
It varies -- when the roof caves in, I end up staying late.
Friends?! Family?! I'm lucky if I get home by 10:00 most nights.

HOW QUICKLY CAN YOU FIND A FILED DOCUMENT?

Less than a minute -- I have a very orderly filing system.
It may take me a while, but I'll eventually hunt a document down.
What files?! can't find anything in all those piles of paper!

WHAT DOES YOUR "IN-BASKET" LOOK LIKE?

I have a few "to-do's," but I'll tackle them by the end of the day.
I don't remember having ever completely emptied it.
My whole desk is an "in-basket!" I'll never get through it all!

HOW DO YOU HANDLE "URGENT" ITEMS?

I take short break to schedule it into my day, then return to work.
I drop everything to tackle it, then spend a week "catching-up".
I bury it in a pile on my desk. If it's important, they'll ask for it again.

HOW DO YOU PLAN YOUR DAY?

I look at the next day's schedule and plug in "to-do's" from my list.
I usually "wing it," and tackle whatever lands on my desk next.
I'm too busy putting out fires all day to do any planning!

HOW DO YOU DEAL WITH INCOMING MAIL?

I open the mail once a day, toss the junk, take action on the rest.
Mail piles up for a couple of days before I get a chance to open it.
If it's important enough, they'll call me.

HOW DO YOU FEEL AT THE END OF A WORKDAY?

Satisfied -- I got everything done that I hoped to accomplish.
I wasn't as productive as I wanted -- hope I can catch up later.
What a waste of a day -- will I ever feel in control of my job again?

DO YOU SPEND YOUR DAY ON ENJOYABLE TASKS?

Yes -- I do what I'm good at and delegate the rest.
Sort of -- I feel like I could be using my talents more than I am.
I'm too busy dealing with fires! I never get to do the fun stuff.

HAS DISORGANIZATION EVER COST YOU A CLIENT?

Never.
Once or twice, but I usually regain control before I get complaints.
Don't ask.

Your Score Was ... Barely Keeping Your Head Above Water!

You have known for a long time that you need some help with your organizing systems. Nearly everyday, you feel as though you are just barely getting by. You spend your time dealing with other people's "EMERGENCIES", and rarely have the opportunity to plan the best use of your day. You are lucky if you can just get through this week's mail -- muc less the huge backlog of paper stacked on your kitchen counter. Worst of all, your personal life is SUFFERING because of your disorganization. You are stressed, you don't feel well much of the time, you rarely get to see your friends and family -- and you are certain that there has to be a better way.

Your Score Was ... Needs A Little Work...

You usually manage to keep things under control. But every once in awhile, you get BOGGED down in paperwork, commitments to other people, or a backlog of unfinished tasks. During these periods, you have to scramble to stay on top of everything, and you get pretty STRESSED. You end up running non-stop errands, canceling dinner appointments with friends, and apologizing to your family because you are never home. Sometimes you wish you could find a BETTER to manage incoming paper, external responsibilities, and your daily schedule.

Your Score Was ... Future Organizer In The Making!

Who says "anal retentive" is a bad thing?! You are about as organized as they come. Your home is a JOY to behold -- and friends and family alike know that they can count on you to get the job done, because you have good time management and organizing skills. And, best of all, you build in time for YOURSELF while still being twice as productive as most of other the people around you.
