Jersey Shore

  • Ocean View -- Frontier Campground
    • ☺ ☺ ☺ this is a family-owned no-frills park whose spaces are hidden away in a densely-wooded summer-camp-ish area, pretty and shady but thin on amenities -- you can only get internet if you sit right outside the office, no pool, and RVers aren't supposed to use their "free" public showers (???) -- fairly centrally-convenient to attractions in Atlantic City, Wildwood, and Cape May, but a bit off the beaten path -- and bring your bug spray because the insects will carry you away if you aren't careful!

Metro NYC

  • Jersey City -- Liberty Harbor
    • ☺ ☺ the only RV park close to NYC -- this place is safe and very convenient, 15 minutes by train into Manhattan (the only reason it gets any smilies at all) -- but the maintenance staff is rude and unhelpful, and you're camping in a parking lot with no amenities, sewer connection, or water after early December -- these folks take gross advantage of their monopoly by treating you like they're doing you a favor, charging outrageously for next-to-no service (at $1500 a month, officially THE most expensive park we've ever stayed at)
